White rice is rice milled of the bran, germ, and other nutrients and then polished to look pretty white. It has no nutritional value. There are more than several types of rice, but parboiled is probably the best besides brown and wild rice. Parboiled has about 80% of the nutrients in brown rice. This is because they use steam to break the hull of the rice, making the nutrients absorb into the next layer instead of being washed out. The best though, is to eat wheat. Unusual types of wheat, or pearl millet and barley which are not what, but different grasses have more nutritional value than rice alone. Durum is the most popular, but the 'Atta' flour used for making chapatis and such, have the whole wheat meaning the whole wheat in tact - the bran, germ, ..
